If your son is in flag football, his uniform (jersey, pants, flags and belt) will be furnished by the league. Football cleats are suggested. If your son is playing tackle football, game jersey and pants are provided. Helmet, shoulder and lower pads, mouthpiece as well as cleats need to be provided by the player. It is also recommended to purchase a practice uniform. Several athletic supply stores carry the necessary equipment although if it is a first time purchase for your son, it would be of benefit to have a store clerk assist you with fitting of the helmet and shoulder pads.

Players are selected by school, however if there are not enough from their own school we combine with schools that feed into the same High School. The league focuses on team building amongst classmates as well as teammates. The head coach for each team will contact the players to be sure they know the team they are on.

When the head coach contacts the player or parent, he will provide you with the schedule of practice as well as practice location. League rules state that practices cannot start prior to August 01st.

Opening Ceremonies is a great time for the players to get together, as a team, and present themselves to the families and friends of the HYFL. We start the day with a punt and pass competition sponsored by the NFL, no charge for our registered players, and then open the ceremonies with many festivities. We will have 104 KRBE providing us with music throughout the event, the Texans team mascot "Toro" will be there, some key speakers will briefly address both parents and players, a player parade will follow as well as team introductions through the "tunnel of winners". We will close with a professional fireworks display. This event is for all family members, not just those in the HYFL, and we look forward to everyone joining us for an exciting opening to another fun season.

We are fortunate to have an increase of players from last year which means we will likely be using two facilities to hold our games. The primary facility will be at Cinco Ranch High School, the fields between the high school football field and Highway 99. The other facility will be next to Cinco Ranch Junior High. We will advise teams which field they will be playing at and this will likely be the same throughout the course of the season. A map will be posted of both facilities once schedules are finalized.

We have encouraged spectators of the games to send us pictures throughout the year, just so we can proudly display our players throughout the year. We will utilize a service this year where family and friends can purchase pictures on the photo gallery. All proceeds to these sales go to the HYFL for equipment purchases, referees as well as medical staff.
